The Evils of Photoshop

Mon Oct 29, 2007, 5:36 PM
I now have, at long last, a permanent copy of an image program more powerful than MS Paint (not really a difficult feat, since I've seen word-processing programs with more image-manipulating versatility than MS Paint), and I have submitted some of the most recent results of me dinkering around on the thing, being absolutely spoiled rotten with the ease at which I may use this program to craft in a few clicks what I never could have done with weeks of agonizing pixel-by-pixel work in Paint.

I have realized, therefore, that convenience can be a bad thing. I am in terrible danger of being very lazy now in the creation of my pictures, allowing these new powerful tools to do what I ought to be doing myself, leaving my finished pictures with a quality that didn't come from me but from a programmer at Adobe. Indeed, I think that this flaw is already obviously present in the two or three works I have worked on experimentally with this program.

Hopefully I will be able to resist the temptation to overuse the more sweeping functions in my copy of Photoshop and instead use it for the simple purposes I've been wishing for since I picked up Paint, only using the more powerful filters and such sparingly in instances that they truly help the image, not cover it up.

and try to understand this...the reason we're alive is simply because it can't be helped.

Hey man, thanks for adding me. You have some pretty nice sketches here, the best ones seem to be the elementals (water, mostly) in my opinion.
